These products use ingredients that replenish any moisture in your skin that has been depleted during the tanning process. Moist skin will not only tan darker, but it will tan more quickly and extend the life of your tan.
Some lotions have added ingredients that promote the natural production of melanin in the skin or increase blood flow (tingle factor) to the skin, thereby increasing the AMOUNT of melanin brought to the top layers of the skin.
